About the Course

The Award in Mathematics and Dyscalculia (AMD) is a 12 month (1 year) part-time course open to teachers and therapists working with learners from age 6 to 16. It is written by global pioneers in the field. Candidates will go through a basic application process where professional documentation and proof of experience will be reviewed. The course will require 6-8 hours of study time per week.

Course Delivery

The AMD will be delivered online through weekly live lectures over Zoom, and completion of two to three short weekly assignments on a learning platform. You can take the course from anywhere, as long as you have a good internet connection. The course is delivered in two modules. Module 1 focuses on theory and a deep understanding of Mathematics and Dyscalculia. Module 2 covers the screening for dyscalculia and mathematics difficulties, as well as intervention and teaching methods. It will focus on different areas of mathematics and explore various remediation strategies for each area. This module includes a practical component of 10 hours of intervention with the support of a tutor.
